1) Computational modeling.
2) Molecular evolution.
3) Metabolic engineering.
4) Evolutionary biology.
5) Systems biology.

Our research group foundationally utilizes computational and experimental systems biology and synthetic biology methods to study basic and applied research questions. Computationally, we develop and analyze large-scale metabolic models based upon genomic information and simulate dynamics of smaller systems using agent-based models. Experimentally, we use aspects of molecular biology, evolutionary biology, and high-throughput data measurements to study and engineer biology. Currently, our research program has a large focus on metabolic engineering applications including biological production of biofuels.
